National Cricket Centre

The Glamorgan National Cricket Centre (GNCC) is a wonderful example of Glamorgan's commitment to providing excellence on and off the field.

Available to everyone, the Centre is raising the standards of excellence for cricketers of all ages and abilities by means of state of the art facilities and high standards of coaching. The range of activities at the Centre is comprehensive and they are suitable for clubs, schools, businesses and individuals. The facilities include:

  • National Cricket Centre7 Net Lanes with extended cushioned run-ups
  • Uniturf playing surface
  • 5 Bola bowling machines-automatic feeders available
  • Fielding machines and equipment
  • Video analysis equipment
  • Fully qualified coaching staff, including current and past Glamorgan players
  • An extensive viewing gallery
  • Spacious changing and showering facilities

Although cricket is the driving force behind the Centre, the GNCC can truly be described as a multi-purpose facility. Numerous other activities have been held in the Centre ranging from Netball to International Boxing and formal dinners for up to 500 people. Cricket Activities

We offer a large range of cricket activities to cater for all ages and abilities from the beginner to the advanced cricketer. Please see below for details.

Weekly and Holiday courses for Junior Cricketers:

Throughout the year and in the school holidays, we run a range of children's cricket classes that cater for all ages and abilities.

Individual Coaching:

Book one of our very popular personalised coaching sessions with one of our ECB qualified coaches. Work on batting, bowling, fielding or wicketkeeping, an excellent way to work on and improve your technique. Video analysis is available on request.

The coaches who work at the National Cricket Centre include

Richard Kaufman

(National Cricket Centre Co-Ordinator)

Richard Kaufman is an ECB level 3 qualified coach, who first began one-to-one coaching at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. He completed an Undergraduate degree in Sports Business studies at Northampton University. Richard is an off-spinning batsman who moved to Cardiff in 2006 where he completed a qualification as a PE teacher and represented the Cardiff and Glamorgan UCCE. During the 2007 season he became captain of the combined UCCE XI and also represented Glamorgan 2nd X1. Richard took over the role of Indoor Centre Co-ordinator and 1st XI video analyst at Glamorgan in October 2007.

Rhodri Lloyd

Rhodri has worked at the NCC for five winters. He is an ECB Level 2 coach and is vastly experienced. He is a qualified P.E teacher, a University Graduate and is currently working as a Ph.D. researcher for the University of Wales Institute Cardiff. Rhodri has played for Cardiff UCCE, during which scored a century against Glamorgan. He is the Cardiff and Vale Under 11s Head Coach.

Rhys Lloyd

Rhys has worked at the NCC for the last five winters. He is an ECB Level 2 coach and is a vastly experienced coach. He is a talented club cricketer, playing premier league cricket for Swansea. Rhys is also a qualified PE teacher working at Llanishen High School. He is also Cardiff and Vale Under 10s Head Coach.

Morgan Rushbrook

Morgan has just finished working his first winter at the NCC. He is an ECB Level 3 coach and a graduate from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff. Morgan is a talented all-round cricketer, having previously been at Lord's as an MCC Young Cricketer. He was a regular member of the Cardiff UCCE side last season, playing against Hampshire, Sussex and Kent. He is currently studying a Masters in Coaching Science.

Chris Salmons

Chris has worked for the last two winters at the NCC. He is an ECB level 2 coach and a graduate from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff. He is a quick bowler and top order batsman. Chris grew up in Surrey and has played 2nd X1 cricket for them. Chris has been working for the Cricket Board of Wales this winter coaching the National Development Squads. He is also completing a masters in coaching science at UWIC and will be representing Cardiff UCCE in 2008.

Michael Beacham

Michael has played for Glamorgan 2nd XI for the last four years. He is an ECB Level 2 coach and is currently studying at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff. He is an opening away swing bowler and middle order batsman. Once again, Michael will be representing Cardiff UCCE this coming season.

Alun Thomas

Alun has worked at the NCC for the past two years. He plays for Cardiff Cricket Club and is an opening bowler and middle order batsman, who represented Glamorgan 2nd X1 in 2006 and 2007. Alun coaches within the Cardiff and Vale age groups and he is an ECB Level 2 coach. He is also studying Sports Coaching at University of Wales Institute Cardiff.

Glamorgan Cricket is proud and fortunate to have such an experienced and knowledgeable group of coaches to deliver our One to One programme. I believe we offer as good a One to One programme available in the local area and also across England and Wales, it is also very competitive priced, with a block booking of 10 costing £275.

Net and Bowling Machine Hire:

The nets and the bowling machines are available to hire. Come along and practice with some friends, prices start from just £15.
Club Net Bookings:

Book nets and train and practice in the best indoor facility in Wales. The nets are available to hire throughout the year for clubs. Discounts available for block bookings.

Indoor Cricket Leagues:

Stay in touch with your game and your team-mates through the winter months by entering one of our social but competitive 6-a-side indoor cricket leagues.
