Help make Wales proud

We're always keen to recruit volunteers at Sophia Gardens, the home of Glamorgan County Cricket Club.

Our Volunteers are priceless, helping to support our International, The Hundred and Vitality Blast fixtures; together with our varied community projects that we run on a regular basis.

Our aim is to provide a warm Welsh welcome and first-class customer service to spectators during our Vitality Blast and The Hundred home fixtures, our non-match-day events, and our International fixtures planned.

“Our volunteers are a source of pride for us – they are consistently praised by our fans and those who visit Sophia Gardens, and are a big part of what we do here.

“We are very thankful for those we already have and we want to create an even larger team that can help deliver great experiences to our spectators.

“We believe that becoming a volunteer at Glamorgan can provide you with amazing experiences in a live sports environment, and help you develop skills that can’t be developed in everyday life.”

Glamorgan County Cricket Club is committed to supporting the England and Wales Cricket Board 2020-24 strategy ‘Inspiring Generations’, and inspire the next generation of people in Wales to say that ‘cricket is a game for me'. The ECB strategy has 6 key priorities:

  • Grow and nurture the core
  • Inspire through elite teams
  • Make cricket accessible
  • Engage children and young people
  • Transform women’s and girls’ cricket
  • Support our communities

We require volunteers to join our friendly existing team to help ensure our fixtures and community projects run smoothly.

You can help us by providing support to the following areas:

Media

Volunteers will support the Broadcast, Commercial and Media Operations. Involvement will include setting up press conferences and supporting the written press/photographers with relevant information throughout practice sessions and match days.

Volunteers with an interest in Journalism and Media will be good in this area.

Event & Sponsors Activation

Volunteers will support Glamorgan County Cricket Club in the delivery of the planned on-field activities and crowd entertainment in and around the venues.

Spectator Services

Volunteers will be meeting and greeting spectators and Hospitality guests at the stadium, major travel hot spots (off-site), high footfall areas, routes leading to the venue, whilst ensuring spectators have a warm welsh welcome and farewell.

We welcome volunteers with great communication & customer service skills, together with a zesty enthusiasm to help members of the public and spectators.

Junior Coaching Support

Volunteers will support our Coaching Team at Glamorgan County Cricket Club, helping to organise and run various community events and junior cricket activities during our match days and in partnership with Cricket Wales.

A minimum of a Level 1 Cricket Coaching certificate is required for this role.

CC4 Museum of Welsh Cricket

A volunteer is required to assist the Club with various tasks, including the updating of the catalogue of archive material and other memorabilia stored both at the Museum, situated within the National Cricket Centre at Sophia Gardens, as well as at the Glamorgan Archives, adjacent to the Cardiff City Stadium in Leckwith.

Administration Support

Volunteers will support our Glamorgan County Cricket Club Commercial Team with administration and ticketing duties during mailshots and the busy cricket season.

Some administration skills will be useful but not always necessary.

Community Project Volunteers

Volunteers will help support our various community projects and school visits.

Some volunteering duties will take place out in the community, so transport will be needed for some activities.

If you're interested, join us for our training session on Tuesday, March 19th, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the Museum. For any queries, please email Paul.Edwards@glamorgancricket.co.uk.
