Croft Names Squad For Championship Return

Glamorgan Head Coach Robert Croft has named a 15-man squad as the Welsh county return to Specsavers County Championship action against Northamptonshire at Swansea tomorrow (Wednesday, 11am start).

The squad includes 19-year-old Carmarthenshire-born paceman Lukas Carey – who has impressed in the Second XI – along with academy product Jack Murphy, beside other homegrown talents Ruaidhri Smith, Owen Morgan and Andrew Salter.

It is Glamorgan's first match in the competition since the dramatic four-wicket win over Derbyshire at Colwyn Bay, when teeenage prodigy Aneurin Donald matched the world record for the fastest double-century in first-class cricket.

Donald remains a fixture in the Glamorgan side in all three formats, after impressive performances to help his team reach the NatWest T20 Blast quarter-finals. Donald is expected to take his place in the top six as he returns to his hometown, Swansea.

T20 talisman Colin Ingram is again rested for the four-day format, with Chris Cooke sidelined for the season with a trapped nerve in his back.

Before next Thursday's showdown with Yorkshire Vikings at The SSE SWALEC, there is the small matter of this Championship fixture against in-form Northants – who recently claimed a home quarter-final place in both the T20 Blast and Royal London One Day Cup.

The visitors have named a 12-man travelling party for the match. They are without captain Alex Wakely and batting duo Josh Cobb and Adam Rossington, with new on-loan signing Laurie Evans (on a month-long stint from Warwickshire) included in their squad. England Lions star Ben Duckett will feature, looking to continue his rich vein of form in all formats.

The match gets underway at 11am at Swansea tomorrow.
