News From The Opposition: Northants

Northamptonshire go into this week\'s Specsavers County Championship clash against Glamorgan knowing they could leapfrog the Welsh county with victory at Wantage Road.

It was a week to remember for one Northants player in particular last week, as debutant Chad Barrett hit a miaden first-class century, although he couldn't prevent his side falling to a narrow two-wicket defeat to promotion-chasing Worcestershire.

England hopeful Ben Duckett remains the key batsman for the hosts and he is joined by the in-form Rob Keogh – who hit a century of his own at New Road last week – and T20 hero Josh Cobb in a 13-man squad for the match.

Alex Wakely leads a squad which is packed full of batting, with the likes of Adam Rossington, Richard Levi and Rory Kleinveldt all dangerous with the bat.

Northamptonshire are level on points with Glamorgan in Division Two of the Specsavers County Championship, with the winning side (or one which accrues more points) taking up seventh place in the table after the game, unless Glamorgan can catch up sixth-placed Gloucestershire.

Northants squad in full: Alex Wakely*, Chad Barrett, Ben Duckett, Steven Crook, Rob Keogh, Rob Newton, Saif Zaib, Adam Rossington, David Murphy+, Ben Sanderson, Richard Levi, Rory Kleinveldt, Graeme White.

Glamorgan's County Championship clash with Northamtonshire gets underway at 11am tomorrow (Wednesday).
