Shaun Tait will be hoping to continue Glamorgan\'s rich vein of form in T20 cricket when he comes into the side against Sussex Sharks on Thursday.
New signing Tait, who has replaced Dale Steyn as Glamorgan's overseas player in the NatWest T20 Blast, is an experienced T20 cricketer, having played for Australia as well as in the Indian Premier League and Big Bash League in the past few years.
He has featured for the likes of Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades and Rajastan Royals in the world's biggest T20 leagues, to add to his three Tests, 35 ODIs and 21 T20 internationals.
With Glamorgan currently leading the way in the South Group with five victories from their opening seven matches, Tait admitted it was great to come into a successful side firing on all cylinders.
He joins a diverse bowlling attack that boasts the nous of Michael Hogan and Graham Wagg, the spinning experience of Dean Cosker and fellow Aussie-born paceman Timm van der Gugten.
Tait said: "It's easier and nicer to come into a winning side and hopefully I can come in and perform well. I've played in a few teams in different countries and I know what the T20 game is all about – but my job is to come in and take wickets and help the team win."
As well as a stint with Glamorgan in 2010, Tait has represented Essex Eagles in the English domestic T20 competition, with some success. He took three wickets against the Welsh county last season to dent their hopes of a T20 quarter-final.
The Aussie quick, nicknamed 'The Wild Thing', hopes to emulae the success of Dale Steyn, who took 11 wickets in five matches for Glamorgan, winning four of them.
Tait added: "I played here six years ago for a short stint. The facilities are great and Cardiff is a great city, so there's no complaints from me.
"If I can do half as well as Dale then I'll be happy. He's a nice guy and a great bowler. If I can turn up and take a few wickets – as long as the team is winning – I'll be happy."
The 33-year-old's first match will be at The SSE SWALEC, Cardiff, against Sussex Sharks on Thursday and Tait was chomping at the bit to pull on a Glamorgan jersey and get the ball in his hand.
He said: "I look forward to playing (against Sussex) they've got some good players but I'm just concentrating on what this team can do and what I can do. It should be good, I'm looking forward to it."
