England ODI captain Eoin Morgan has said he wants his team to remain focussed and target a series victory against Sri Lanka at The Kia Oval tomorrow – despite concerns around the weather.
Rain prevented England from taking victory at Bristol after limiting Sri Lanka to 248/9 in the 3rd ODI and the weather forecast is for more rain in South London tomorrow.
But Morgan remained hopeful of some cricket, with England hoping to secure an unassailable 2-0 series lead at The Kia Oval.
If the fourth ODI is abandoned or postponed by wet weather, the outcome of the series will hinge on the fifth and final game at The SSE SWALEC, Cardiff on Saturday.
Morgan, speaking to the media today, said: "We're hungry to do well as a side, hungry to learn and stay together as a group.
"We've done that a little bit so far, but this series has been a bit stop-start, so we're keen to play and hopefully put in a good, solid performance.
"You don't know what the weather is going to do, but hopefully you can pick the correct side to win the match."
Morgan heaped praise on Yorkshire paceman Liam Plunkett, who has contributed with both bat and ball in this series so far, taking three frugal wickets at Bristol and hitting a brilliant six off the final ball at Trent Bridge to clinch a crucial tie, despite a below-par team performance.
"He's bowling beautifully at the moment," Morgan added. "It's not an easy thing to bowl quick. Ideally we want a genuine quick in our side and Liam is one of those people."
