Stokes Ruled Out Of Sri Lanka Series

Ben Stokes will miss the rest of England Investec Test series against Sri Lanka with a knee injury.

Stokes jarred his knee while bowling in England's comprehensive victory over the tourists at Headingley last week.

Yesterday, he tweeted: "Devastated to be missing the rest of the series, this has been a ongoing issue for 2/3 years which I've managed to play through until now..."

Stokes will have keyhole surgery on his left knee to remove floating cartilage on Tuesday.

It will also keep him out of England's Royal London ODI series versus Sri Lanka – that concludes with a finale at The SSE SWALEC.

Stokes' replacement in the England Test squad, Chris Woakes, took 9/46 for Warwickshire yesterday in their Specsavers County Championship clash with Durham.

All-rounder Woakes is likely to be included in the England XI to face Sri Lanka at Chester-le-Street on Friday ahead of uncapped Nottinghamshire seamer Jake Ball, with Moeen Ali and Jonny Bairstow shifting up the batting order.

A limited number of tickets for England's ODI versus Sri Lanka at The SSE SWALEC, Cardiff, are available from here.
