Glamorgan hunting six from six on the road

Top of the table Glamorgan face Hampshire at The Ageas Bowl tomorrow with Head Coach Robert Croft naming a 13-man squad for the clash.

South African batsman David Miller is the only absentee from the squad which defeated Surrey in front of a packed Oval crowd on Friday night having completed his six-game spell with the club.

Young seamer Lukas Carey took the prize wicket of England batsman Jason Roy with the first ball of the Surrey innings during the win and is relishing the opportunity of playing the game’s shortest format in front of large crowds.

“It was a great game to be part of and I loved playing in front of twenty-odd thousand so I’m glad that I did ok,” said Carey.

“I didn’t think I’d be involved in the NatWest Blast this year so it’s a bit of a bonus to bowl and for Jacques to come up to me and say you are bowling the first over is quite a personal achievement.”

Despite losing to Gloucestershire in Cardiff the day before facing Surrey, the Welsh county have now won five from five away from home and sit two points clear at the top of the south group.

“We did really well to bounce back against Surrey after the Gloucestershire disappointment and now playing Hampshire tomorrow we’re in with a good shout,” said seamer Lukas Carey.

“Where we are in the group there’s definitely more added pressure but we just have to remain relaxed and get on with the job.”

Carey made his debut for Glamorgan last year against Northamptonshire picking up seven wickets in the match, but had to wait until this year to make his limited overs debut. Despite his recent success in picking up the wickets of Roy and Bell Drummond, he admits he still has a lot to learn when it comes to bowling in the NatWest T20 Blast.

“I’ve been working on a couple of things in training, different balls to bowl so I’m taking that out with me into the middle but I have a lot more to work on for the T20 format."
