Glamorgan players celebrate A level success

18 Aug 2017 | Cricket
Three players on the Glamorgan development programme are celebrating after getting the A-Level results they needed yesterday.

Lorenzo Machado, Prem Sisodiya and Tom Murphy were among the Glamorgan cricketers to get their results yesterday.

Prem who played for England under-19s invitational XI against India last month, is heading to Cardiff Met Uni to study Sports and Physical Education after passing his A Levels in Psychology, PE and Business.

Lorenzo Machado, 19, secured grades ABB in Maths, Biology and Economics from Kings College, Taunton, previously attended by both Jos Buttler and Craig Meschede. Lorenzo's results won him a place at Cardiff University where he will read Economics, whilst Kiran Carlson who has enjoyed a breakthrough season for Glamorgan during his year out, is also due to head to Cardiff, to study Civil Engineering in September after he passed his A Levels from Whitchurch High School last year.

Tom Murphy, 18, also passed his A Levels and has plans to travel to Australia at the end of September to play for Carnegie CC for the season rather than embarking on further studies immediately.

Glamorgan Cricket would like to send its congratulations to everyone who received A-Level results and wish them the very best for the future.

BTEC

Many students do not wish to go through the traditional route to higher education and so Glamorgan in partnership with Fitzalan High School have joined forces with TVS Education to offer students aged 16-18 the opportunity to study a BTEC National in Sport, with teaching and coaching taking place at Glamorgan's headquarters, The SSE SWALEC.

The course is the equivalent of 3 A Level’s and a gateway in to higher education or work within the industry.
