The pink ball played pretty well - Cooke

Wicketkeeper Chris Cooke claimed five catches on day one of Glamorgan’s floodlit Specsavers County Championship match against Derbyshire in Cardiff as the away side were dismissed for 288.

Glamorgan had reduced Derbyshire to 157/7 thanks to some excellent bowling from Marchant de Lange and Graham Wagg, before a half-century from Tom Milnes made it honours even at the close of play.

"The pink ball played pretty well and we'll see how good that score is, but it showed there was a bit in it for both bat and ball under lights,” said Cooke.

"Marchant bowled excellently in that (second session) spell and Waggy with him when the lights came on, but Tom Milnes showed you could definitely bat under lights.

“It's new for everyone so it's whoever adapts quickest might have the edge."
