Glamorgan allrounder David Lloyd has signed a two-year extension to his current contract which will keep him with the Welsh county until the end of the 2019 season.
Born in St Asaph and educated at Darland School and subsequently Shrewsbury School, Lloyd is a forceful batsman and medium-pace bowler who joined the playing staff in 2012 and made his first class debut that season.
David enjoyed a successful year in 2016 posting his maiden first-class hundred against Cardiff MCCU early season before recording his maiden Championship hundred against Kent at Canterbury. In the process, he became only the third North Walian-born batsman, after Wilf Wooller and Geoff Ellis, to make a Championship hundred for Glamorgan.
The match at Canterbury also saw David share a record sixth wicket stand of 215 – with Graham Wagg - Glamorgan’s best–ever for that wicket against Kent. A few weeks later at Hove, David added another Championship hundred to his tally against Sussex.
In T20 against Kent Spitfires at The SSE SWALEC, David made a unbeaten 97 from just 49 balls and came close not only to posting his maiden one-day hundred for the Club, but equalling Ian Thomas’ Club record for the fastest Twenty20 ton for the Welsh county off 50 balls.
“I’m delighted to extend my contract,” said Lloyd. “Having come through the development system and making my debut over four years ago, it has been a great journey so far.
“We’ve got a great mix in the dressing room, a good blend of youth with a few experienced heads in the team and we’re beginning to make strides forward.
“Last year I scored a couple of hundreds and I’m in a good place and will hopefully score many more runs this season as well as keep taking wickets.”

“He has made some key contributions in limited-overs and Championship cricket particularly over the last 12 months with bat and ball and he is benefitting from working hard through pre-season.
