Meschede Recovers from Knock

23 May 2017 | Cricket
All-rounder Craig Meschede hit 91 off 93 balls at Blackstone Academy earlier today sharing a 157-run 9th wicket stand with Tom Cullen as Glamorgan recovered from 166/8 to post 323 all out on day 1 of their Championship game against Sussex.

Meschede suffered a knock to the helmet against the same opponents in the 50-over game yesterday and left the field after scoring 25 runs taking no further part in the game to follow head injury assessment protocols.

But he returned to action in explosive form on day one of the Championship contest to help steer Glamorgan's total above 300 in partnership with wicket-keeper Cullen who also shared a 50-run stand with Ruaidhri Smith, with the latter returning to remove Salt (15) in the only wicket to fall in the home team's reply before close of play. Sussex will resume on 57/1, a deficit of 266.
