Same Again for Glamorgan against Kent at Swansea

13 May 2017 | Matches
Head Coach Robert Croft has selected an unchanged squad as he prepares to take his players to St Helen\'s, Swansea for the final group game of the Royal London One-Day Cup against Kent tomorrow (11am scheduled start).

Glamorgan have won three out of seven games in this year's competition with Sunday's match concluding the group stage and the Welsh county's hopes of making the knockout rounds hanging by a thread with only the top three teams from each group progressing.

However, in Marchant de Lange and Colin Ingram they have two of the top three rated players in the PCA MVP ranking, with the former topping the bowling charts with 17 wickets, more than any other player after claiming a five-for against Hampshire and Colin Ingram continuing to demonstrate his high calibre with a second century in the competition at the Ageas Bowl last time out taking him past 7000 List A runs in his career.

Glamorgan captain Jacques Rudolph suffered a badly bruised hand fielding at Southampton, which prevented him from opening the batting, but returned down the order to help Glamorgan's run chase and is expected to lead the team at Swansea.

Glamorgan returned to winning ways against an in-form Hampshire side which was full of quality after suffereing a narrow defeat to Middlesex two days earlier. A win on Sunday against bottom placed Kent will provide elusive back to back wins for the first time this season and a level of consistency which has so far been a source a frustration this term.

After hitting the winning runs on Friday against Hampshire, Chris Cooke said, "It makes Wednesday's defeat at Radlett (against Middlesex) a bit frustrating, but it proves to us we can play the kind of cricket we want to."

"It's still May, and there's a lot of cricket to play with a big T20 Blast coming up, so it proves we can beat the best teams.

"I will be trying to hit those ice-cream vans at Swansea!"

Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens is set for his 300th limited-overs appearance for Kent who also include England's Sam Billings back from the IPL and former Glamorgan seamer James Harris who is on loan at Kent returns to the city of his birth as he comes up against his old team mates at St Helen's.

After Sunday's game Glamorgan return to County Championship action against Nottinghamshire on Friday at The SSE SWALEC in Cardiff.  The second part of the Swansea cricket festival comes when Durham visit SA1 for a four-day game starting on May 26.
