REACTION: \"We built a good partnership\"

Kiran Carlson and Andrew Salter hit career best scores with the bat in a record sixth wicket stand for Glamorgan against Gloucestershire as the Welsh County reached 342/7 at the close of day one.

Carlson ended on 137 not out, his second first-class century, after Glamorgan had slumped to 62/4 on a pitch that got easier to bat on as the day went on.

“It was obviously pretty tough,” said Carlson. “They bowled well but I think me and Salts got through their tough patches and build a good partnership.”

“The pitch was green at the start of the day and was nipping around and swinging but as the ball got older, the pitch flattened out. It was tough trying to stay on top at all times, I had a few lapses but I managed to keep hold of it for most of the day.

“An inside edge nearly hitting the stumps wasn’t the best way to get there [to the hundred] but it was really nice. It’s all about batting for as long as I can.”

Andrew Salter added it was “nice to be at the other end, and he (Kiran) made it look easy for most of the time I was batting.

“We tried to keep it simple so it was a shame I got given out towards the end of the day.”
