Glamorgan Cricket will continue the tradition of staging an annual match at Colwyn Bay Cricket Club in Rhos-on-Sea, with a Specsavers County Championship fixture against Warwickshire next week (29th August).

Colwyn Bay CC has staged Glamorgan’s Championship matches since the 1960’s. Many of Glamorgan’s triumphs have been witnessed at the Colwyn Bay grounds, such as Steve James scoring Glamorgan’s first-ever triple hundred against Sussex in 2000.

Glamorgan Chief Executive Hugh Morris, said, “Our fixture at Colwyn Bay is always one of the most highly anticipated matches of our season.

“Every year we look forward to coming to Colwyn Bay and bringing first-class cricket to north Wales so we can continue to grow the game across Wales.

“Last season’s match against Sussex was a great advert for first-class cricket and we are excited to be able to return to Colwyn Bay this year when we play against a strong Warwickshire team.

“I hope supporters will flock to the Rhos-on-sea ground over the four days to cheer the team on.”

Councillor Louise Emery, Conwy County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said, “We once again welcome Glamorgan for their championships fixture, highlighting Conwy County is the right environment for great events. Events are a corporate priority as laid out in the Events Strategy 2018-2022. I thank Colwyn Bay Cricket Club for hosting this prestigious event for Conwy County Borough, and wish both Glamorgan and Warwickshire the best of luck.”

Tickets are £15 for adults; £10 for students; £3 for under 17s and can be purchased from the Glamorgan Cricket website HERE or over the phone by calling 02920 419 311.
