Stat Attack - Hogans 100 and Glamorgans 201

4 Aug 2018 | Cricket
There were some personal and collective landmarks during Glamorgan’s pulsating two-run victory over Gloucestershire at Sophia Gardens in the Vitality Blast on Friday evening.

The first involved Michael Hogan who went into the match with 97 wickets to his name in all Twenty20 cricket, with his tally for Glamorgan standing at 86, together with 5 wickets for the Hobart Hurricanes plus 6 for Western Australia. He soon moved onto 98 wickets as Miles Hammond miscued a pull to Usman Khawaja, before during his comeback spell, Hogan had Kieron Noema-Barnett caught at mid-off by Aneurin Donald before reaching the 100-mark as Gareth Roderick miscued a pull into the hands of Timm van der Gugten at short fine-leg.

For Glamorgan, Friday night was the first time they had passed the 200-mark in Twenty20 cricket at their headquarters, with their total of 201/6 being their fourth highest in the short-format competition. Their higher totals have been 240/3 against Surrey at The Oval in 2015, 224/5 against Essex at Chelmsford in 2017 and 206/6 against Somerset at Taunton in 2006. Their previous best at their headquarters in Cardiff had been 199/4 against Middlesex in 2011.
