Glamorgan continue their campaign in the Vitality Blast as they travel to Chelmsford to meet the Essex Eagles in a contest scheduled to get underway at 7pm on Friday, July 13th .

The Chelmsford ground was the venue for a remarkable game last summer. Few might have predicted a victory for the visiting side as Varun Chopra scored a fine hundred for the Eagles, but Colin Ingram responded with a superb 114 before run out in the closing stages of the contest. But Glamorgan, who were chasing a record total of 220, clinched victory by five wickets as Craig Meschede struck the last ball of the contest high over back ward point for six.

2016 also saw Colin Ingram in blistering form with the bat at Chelmsford, with the southpaw making 107 in the List A game at Essex’s headquarters before scoring a brilliant hundred in the Twenty20 match, reaching three figures from 56 balls before the contest was interrupted and subsequently abandoned because of rain.

Prior to these two games, Chelmsford had not been a happy hunting ground for Glamorgan in Twenty20 cricket with the Eagles having won their encounters in 2015, 2014 and 2013.  They were victorious in 2015 by 16 runs in a match which saw Ravi Bopara and Shaun Tait take centre-stage as the England international struck a cultured half-century before the Australian paceman claimed three wickets against his former colleagues.
