Abergavenny

Formed in 1834, Abergavenny C.C. is one of the oldest club`s in Wales, and the Avenue Road ground has hosted county cricket since 1981 when Glamorgan visited the ground for their Sunday League match against Worcestershire.

Annual Championship fixtures were subsequently staged at the ground from 1983 and many batsmen have thoroughly enjoyed playing at the picturesque venue, including Andrew Symonds of Gloucestershire, who in 1995, hit a world record 20 sixes during his innings of 254 against Glamorgan.

Abergavenny

In 1990 it was the turn of Worcestershire`s Graeme Hick to gorge himself on the Abergavenny wicket as he hit 252*, but Glamorgan`s batsmen nearly had the final laugh as set 495 on the final day, they came within two runs of reaching their target as they finished a remarkable match on 493-6.
