Ebbw Vale

Cricket has been played in Ebbw Vale since 1852, with Glamorgan staging regular county matches at Eugene Cross Park from 1946. The inaugural County Championship match in June 1946 against Worcestershire, drew a crowd in excess of 5,000 on the opening day, and the Championship and one-day matches that Glamorgan have staged at Ebbw Vale have always been well attended .

Several of Ebbw Vale's cricketers have also played with distinction for Glamorgan, including Jack Cope, Wilf Hughes and George Shaw, whilst Percy Holmes, Harold Gimblett, and Bill Andrews have been three famous English cricketers to be attached to the Ebbw Vale club. The late Byron Denning, Glamorgan's highly respected scorer between 1984 and 2001, was also a leading figure with the town club.

Ebbw Vale

Ebbw Vale has also been the home of one of Glamorgan's Indoor Schools. Opened in the early 1950's, it has allowed the county's coaching staff and professional players to groom the next generation of players.
