Usman Khawaja

Usman Khawaja signed as Glamorgan's second overseas player for 2018. Born in Islamabad, Pakistan, Khawaja's family moved to New South Wales when 'Uzzie' was just five. With a cricket mad father, the left-handed batsman quickly rose through the ranks and made his first-class debut for NSW Blues in 2008.

The big hitter made his test debut for Australia in 2011 and has since represented his country in all three formats.

In 2015, Khawaja produced his career best with the bat in the test arena hitting 174 runs as he helped Australia claim a 2-0 series win over neighbours New Zealand. More recently the 31-year-old starred in the fifth and final 2017-18 Ashes test, scoring 171 as Australia ran out 4-0 series winners.

Khawaja enjoys the challenge of the UK conditions and has previous experience in the county circuit with spells at Derbyshire and Lancashire.

Random Fact: Usman and his wife are big fans of Gavin & Stacey and intend on visiting some of the locations featured in the show during their stay in Wales.
