“Aiming to produce an oversupply of homegrown cricketers capable of succeeding for Glamorgan and England.”
Cricket Development Programme
The aim of the Glamorgan Development Programme (GDP) is to identify talent through robust identification and selection criteria.
The programme will include up to 20 of the most talented young male cricketers in Wales from U13 through to the professional game, and also a programme for up to five of the most talented female cricketers. As well as leading these individuals through the technical and tactical aspects of cricket development, each of the players selected onto the Glamorgan programme will also receive a personal coaching and development programme.
GDP Selection Process
The Glamorgan Development Programme is committed to a transparent selection process designed to ensure all players are confirmed as having the potential to successfully represent Glamorgan Cricket at first class level. Selection decisions will be based upon the young player’s demonstrated potential to develop into a first class cricketer in the next 4 to 7 years.
Selection onto the GDP is intended to be highly selective and challenging in order to encourage players to strive very hard to get into, and remain on the programme thus driving up the standards of practice, preparation and performance across junior cricket in Wales.
Whilst a player’s future development, realisation of potential and ultimate level of achievement cannot be guaranteed, the GDP intends to maximise the likelihood of players converting their talent into performances at the highest level through careful selection and a rigorous and challenging programme.
Further information about the selection criteria will be added.
