Cardiff West were the winners by just one run in the final of the annual indoor competition for police cadets held by Glamorgan Cricket in conjunction with South Wales Police in the National Cricket Centre at The SSE SWALEC on Sunday, April 8th.

Cadets from across South Wales descended on Glamorgan's headquarters at The SSE SWALEC, with teams representing Swansea, Bridgend, Cardiff West, Merthyr, the Rhondda, Barry and Port Talbot all participating, whilst the team from Neath were eager to defend their title.

However, it was Cardiff West, Bridgend, Barry and Port Talbot who progressed to the semi-finals after a series of keenly-fought group games as well as games which saw some superb ground fielding and catching by the enthusiastic boys and girls.

After defeating Bridgend by 19 runs, Cardiff West met Barry in the final after the latter had defeated Port Talbot by 3 runs. The final however proved to be an even closer affair with Cardiff West making an impressive 66 after Barry had opted to bowl first. It duly proved to be a winning total, but only just as, after some alert fielding and smart catching, Barry fell one run short.

Both finalists will be given the opportunity to appear as Guards of Honour at a Glamorgan Vitality Blast Twenty20 match later this summer, whilst the cadets from across South Wales will go head-to-head in another tournament during the Autumn.
