Pentyrch CC win the Glamorgan Indoor League

16 Jan 2018 | Cricket
Sunday evening was Finals Night for The Glamorgan Indoor League, with the top four clubs in the final table battling it out for the trophy.

Top of the table Gymkhana CC kicked off the evening at Glamorgan's Indoor School against 4th placed Radyr, while 2nd placed Pentyrch CC took on Penarth CC.

Both semi-finals were extremely hard fought with Gymkhana chasing down Radyr’s total of 72 in the last over and Pentyrch brilliantly chasing down Penarth’s total of 89 with 7 balls left.

In the final, Pentyrch bowled brilliantly, taking early wickets and conceding very few extras. Gymkhana were able to rally a little, but at the end could only manage a below par total of 79.

In reply, Gymkhana made it tough for Penyrch with some excellent bowling, and were able to take wickets at regular enough intervals, but Pentyrch were able to keep up with the run-rate and eventually won with four balls to spare and three wickets in hand.

Pentyrch now take their place in the Welsh Indoor Final at Tenby Leisure Centre, where they will meet the winners of the Pembrokeshire Indoor League and Swansea Indoor League on Sunday 21st January.
