STAT ATTACK - Glamorgans record wins in T20 cricket

7 Jul 2018 | Cricket
Glamorgan’s 63-run victory against Hampshire at The Ageas Bowl on Friday evening was their highest winning margin by runs in Twenty20 cricket, surpassing their previous best of 58 runs (under the DLS Method ) against Worcestershire at New Road in 2013 in a game where Graham Wagg claimed 5/14 in three overs.

Their previous best winning margin in a match not affected by the weather had been 56 runs, again against Worcestershire, at Sophia Gardens in 2003 in a game which saw Matthew Maynard and Mike Powell make assertive half-centuries before Robert Croft chipped in with 3/32.

Glamorgan’s Craig Meschede also played a leading role in the domestic match with the highest margin of victory by runs, with the all-rounder – then playing for Somerset – claiming 3/9 at Chelmsford in 2011 as Somerset dismissed the Essex Eagles for a paltry 82 having earlier made 225/2 to complete a mammoth victory by 143 runs.

The Welsh county have also won two Twenty20 games by the margin of ten wickets. Both were against Gloucestershire, first at Sophia Gardens in 2005 and then in 2011 at Bristol.
