Welcome to Community Corner

28 Jun 2018 | Community
Welcome to the first entry into the Community Corner, the important corner of Glamorgan CCC where the community department get to share what we’ve been up to.

Like any good batter, we’d like to set out our stall in terms of what we do here and what you can expect to see in future posts.

So first things first, what is going on and what can we offer you?

One to one coaching

Our pool of ECB qualified coaches offer 1:1 coaching sessions in the National Cricket Centre, making the most of the fantastic facilities here at Sophia Gardens Cardiff.

Whether you’re picking up cricket for the first time, want to gain a yard of pace or you are a league veteran wanting to fine tune your technique ahead of a big season, we are here to help!

But don’t take our word for it, here’s what some of the players under our tutelage have had to say:

“Theo is so thrilled to have 1:1 coaching at Glamorgan Cricket Club” “The 1:1 sessions have been fun, Theo has thoroughly enjoyed them and can’t wait for the next one. [The coaches are] professional, patient and clearly very knowledgeable.”
Claire Walker on behalf of Theo Walker, Cardiff and the Vales Under 10’s.

“We ve been so fortunate to have had the advice, guidance and support [of the Glamorgan Coaches] who work tirelessly to ensure Owen is working on the finer technical skills that we are unable to help him with at home.  The sessions are enjoyable and he has improved not only as a player but it has strengthened his focus and love of the game.  The advice is always constructive and Owen finds each session tailored towards his individual needs we are so grateful to the coaches for the support they continually offer Owen through his cricket journey.”
Rhian Fitzgerald on Owen Fitzgerald, Cardiff and the Vales Under 13’s.

I would recommend the 1:1 coaching offered by Glamorgan Cricket to any budding cricketer of any standard. The sessions are tailored to the strengths and weaknesses of the individual player and delivered with time and patience.”
Ian Williams on behalf of Zac.

Holiday camps

In a world full of tv marathons, games consoles and social media, the holidays are a great time to encourage the kids to get out of the house and get active. Our fun filled soft ball cricket camps will not only improve your batting and bowling but provide key fundamental movement skills that will be invaluable throughout your lifetime.

Open to all abilities and a range of age groups, learn cricket the Glamorgan way, have fun and who knows, it might start a journey that sees you walk out to play here at Sophia Gardens Cardiff along the way!

"Glamorgan Cricket School Holiday Coaching Camps are first class. My two children have been attending for a number of years now and have made lots of friends as well as improved their game.

The coaches are so friendly and professional and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure the children get as much as possible out of the camps. My daughter in particular has really come on since taking part and feels supported and valued by the coaches. It's great to see both boys and girls of all ages enjoying the game and learning so much. I highly recommend the camps to parents."
Nickie Aiken on behalf of Georgia and Harry.

“I loved going to the Glamorgan Summer Holiday Camp to practice my cricket and learn new skills with my friends. We had loads of fun!”
Joe Nicolson Aged 8.

Future Posts

What can you expect to see here in the future? Well there’s a lot more going on and we will drip feed information through when we can.

When the exciting events we are involved  come up we’ll let you hear about it! Whether it’s here at the Sophia Gardens Cardiff on match days, or out taking cricket around Wales.

For any budding coaches out there, or parent coaches who are looking for a bit of a helping hand, we’re going to be posting our favourite drills, coaching tips and things to look out for.

Ultimately, look out for anything from interviews with players and coaching staff, to our general thoughts on the world of cricket.

Till next time, bowl fast, spin the ball hard and score big runs!
