14-man squad named for The Big Match

Matt Maynard has named a 14-man squad to face Somerset at Sophia Gardens on Wednesday night (16th September), in the 2020 edition of #TheBigMatch.

Kiran Carlson has been added to the squad, with the XI from Sunday as well as Dan Douthwaite and Graham Wagg also in contention for a spot against Somerset. The visitors sit on 2 wins and 4 losses from their 7 games (one no result), the same record as Glamorgan who trail only on net run rate.

Glamorgan won their previous game against Northamptonshire Steelbacks on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the home of Welsh cricket, securing a seven-wicket win after dismissing the visitors for 98, with Prem Sisodiya taking 3-27 and David Lloyd being named Player of the Match for his rapid 40 off just 29 balls in a low-scoring game.

Lloyd was delighted with the way the side played last time out and explained how much he enjoyed playing again at Sophia Gardens.

"It's great to be back after such a long lay-off and a frustrating year, so to be back with the boys and playing again is really nice and something I've been looking forward to for a while.

"Our bowlers bowled really well again, Prem and Salts up top and the seamers doing their job in the middle.

"They've been good at that all competition so it was nice for us batters to back them up and make sure we got the win.

"I just wanted to be positive. It can be tricky in the short chases. I thought, why not have a go?"

Lloyd admitted that part of his frustration at being injured was not being able to help his teammates out in the field, and believes his side can still finish the competition strong, as Glamorgan look to secure a 3rd place finish and a potential quarter-final berth.

"It's been frustrating. It's a competition everyone loves to play. It was annoying for me as I felt like I could have added something and helped the boys out.

"It's nice to get some game time considering there was talk of me not playing at all, so it's nice to get five games and hopefully we can finish off with three more wins."
