Glamorgan Cricket is thrilled to announce that Michael Hogan has been awarded a Testimonial Year in 2020.

Hogan joined Glamorgan in 2012 from Western Australia, where he took 224 wickets and appeared for Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.

Since his arrival in Wales, Hogan has been the mainstay of the Club’s seam bowling attack, appearing on 219 occasions for the Club across all formats, and taking 370 first-class wickets for the Welsh county at an average of just 22.40.

In white-ball games for Glamorgan, he has taken 161 wickets and is the Club’s 2nd highest wicket-taker in the Vitality Blast with 94.

Hogan was named as Glamorgan’s Player of the Year in 2013 and 2014, and was awarded his Glamorgan cap in 2013.

In 2017 he took career-best first-class match figures of 10/87 against Kent at Canterbury, while his best first-class bowling figures in an innings came in 2013 when he took 7/92 against Gloucestershire at Bristol.

He was also appointed as Club captain in 2018 and led from the front in the County Championship with 45 wickets.

“I am extremely honoured to be awarded a Testimonial Year with Glamorgan for next season,” said Hogan.

“Ever since I signed in 2012, the Club and its supporters have been incredibly welcoming and supportive to my family and I, and we thank them for the understanding they have given us, especially with my delayed arrival, and hopefully I have repaid that with my on-field performances.

“I am really enjoying my cricket with this current group and am looking to take further improvement forward to next year and beyond.”

Chief Executive, Hugh Morris, said: “Since Hoges joined he has been a class act, both on and off the field.

“His incredible skill with the ball across all formats has been a key part of the Club for many years, and his ability to both take wickets and keep things tight has made him one of the most prolific and economical wicket-taking bowlers in the County Championship during the past decade.

“Michael’s a fan favourite, an incredibly popular guy in the dressing room and he’s a key part of the Glamorgan family.

“He’s got the respect of opposition up and down the country as well as everyone here at Glamorgan.

“Michael richly deserves a Testimonial Year and we can’t wait for members and supporters to get behind him in 2020 and demonstrate just how important he has been to this Club.”
