Dan Douthwaite shot to prominence in the early part of the 2019 season by scoring a maiden First-class century against Sussex for Cardiff MCCU. He the followed that up with 95 against Glamorgan the following week.

Douthwaite was courted by many counties, but the 22 year old decided to stay in South Wales and put pen to paper on a deal that keeps him at Glamorgan until 2021.

He was out three times on List A debut against Gloucestershire - stumped off a no-ball and caught on a free hit, before his eventual dismissal - but settled in with a Man of the Match performance against Sussex in the Royal London One-Day Cup as he hit an unbeaten century to help power the Welsh county to their best ever chase in the format. He also took 2/46 earlier in the match.

Douthwaite had a strong first County Championship campaign, scoring nearly 300 runs and taking 17 wickets in 7 matches. He was rewarded for his efforts with the John Derrick Player of the Year award, and with his university studies finished Douthwaite is now focused on his first full winter and year as a professional cricketer.
