Owen Morgan enjoyed a fine start to his county career with the left-arm spinner and dogged right-handed batsman entering the club’s record books at New Road in 2016 as he became only the second night-watchman to score a hundred for the Welsh county.

Having arrived at the crease shortly before the close of the third day’s play against Worcestershire, he remained in the middle throughout the next day and reached his century, besides winning the game, with a sweetly-timed cover drive.

Morgan played a role in the County Championship and Vitality Blast in 2019, bowling admirably at The Oval in the latter, and opening the batting in the former.

Owen has played with much success for Pontarddulais CC in the South Wales Premier League and for various Glamorgan age-group teams over the course of the past few years. Educated at Ysgol Gyfun Yr Strade in Llanelli and Cardiff University, he made his first-class debut in April 2014 for Cardiff MCCU against Gloucestershire at Bristol, besides playing for Glamorgan against Worcestershire in a pre-season friendly against Worcestershire at Kidderminster.

He began his playing career with Llangennech CC and has played regularly for Glamorgan 2nd XI and Wales Minor Counties since 2012.
