South West go down in Super 4 opener

On the opening day of the ECB Super 4 competition at Loughborough, there was a first tie in the history of the competition in the game between the North versus the London and East and Glamorgan Prem Sisodiya top scored for the South West, here\'s the match summaries

North v London and East

London and East made 277 for eight in their 50 overs. Savin Perera of Middlesex, one of three over-age (under-18) players who have been brought in at request of Under-19 selectors, made 58 from 75 balls. Jordan Cox of Kent scored 70 off 90 and Jack Davies of Middlesex 58 from 32 with five fours and three sixes.

Then Ed Fluck of Cheshire made 103, and George Hill of Yorkshire 87, but from 182 for two the North lost their way. Ben Allison of Essex two for 34, Freddie Boys of Surrey two for 40.

Midlands v South West

Midlands 214 all out with half centuries for Somerset’s Fin Trenouth (another of the under-18s) and Derbyshire’s Hamidullah Qadri. Tom Lammonby, the Somerset all-rounder who was man of the series for England Under-19s against India, took four for 42.

Then South West dismissed for 125. James Taylor, seamer from Derbyshire, took three early wickets. Worcestershire’s Adam Finch took two for 20. Qadri two for 30, and Jaques Banton, younger brother of Somerset and Eng u19s Tom, three for 21 with his left arm spin. Glamorgan’s Prem Sisodiya who played in an England U19 Invitational XI against Indian tourists a few weeks ago, top-scored for South West with 39 but it was in vain.
