Specsavers County Championship returns to Sophia Gardens Cardiff

Head Coach Robert Croft has named an unchanged 13-man squad for tomorrow\'s Specsavers County Championship match against Kent.

The Welsh County will return to Cardiff after defeating Gloucestershire and picking up eight points in a washout draw at Lord's last week.

Despite heavy rain curtailing play against Middlesex, Glamorgan's bowling attack had a good outing gaining maximum bowling points as skipper Michael Hogan posted 5/49, Timm van der Gugten claiming 4/63 and Lukas Carey taking a further wicket.

Hogan and his men will now look to make a strong start on home soil and are hoping to emulate the effort in the last fixture between the two teams. Glamorgan successfully chased 192 and won by five wickets in the final County Championship game of last season.

Nick Selman, who spent two seasons with the opposing county’s development programme, led from the front against his old side on that occasion, scoring 70 runs as the Welsh County finished victorious. The Australian opening-batsman is now looking forward to facing off against old friends again.

"I managed to play two seasons there [at Kent] playing club cricket for the 2nd XI and I had a really good time playing for them", said Selman.

"Unfortunately, I didn't get picked up there but it's going to be good fun playing against some familiar faces and hopefully I can do well against them.

"I've spoken to a couple of their players. Ivan Thomas is a good mate of mine and I think he'll probably be opening the bowling for them so it's going to be good to face off with him."

Selman is now looking to produce another strong batting performance, with Glamorgan returning to their headquarters in Cardiff.

"Leading up to the game we've been in pretty good form, especially with the ball. The wicket looks pretty flat out there but there's no reason we can't take 20 wickets and put in a good performance. We've just got to stick to our processes and play each ball.”
