Glamorgan Cricket is pleased to announce that all-rounder Andrew Salter has signed a new two-year contract extension which will keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2021 season.

The 25-year-old West-Walian has made nearly 150 appearances for the Welsh county since making his List A debut in 2012 against Durham at Chester-Le Street.

In 2013 he made his Specsavers County Championship debut for the club and dismissed Shiv Thakor with his first ball before recording match figures of 5/100.

He also played a big part in Glamorgan’s run to the final in the Yorkshire Bank40 in the same year and took 2/41 in the final against Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Lord’s.

In 2018 he was a key member of the Glamorgan team across all three formats and was one of Glamorgan’s leading bowlers in the the Vitality Blast taking 11 wickets at an average of 25.91 and conceding just 7.70 runs per over.

Speaking on his contract extension, Salter said: “I’m incredibly passionate about Glamorgan and I’m delighted to commit my future to the club for the next few years.

“We’ve got a very talented bunch of players at the club and I hope I can put some match-winning performances together.

“Whilst the past season has been challenging, it’s now an exciting time to start afresh and hopefully repay our supporters for their loyalty over the years. I’m extremely excited for what the coming seasons have to offer.”

Director of Cricket Mark Wallace added: “Extending Andrew’s contract something both sides were keen to do and we are very happy that he’s committed to Glamorgan until 2021.

“Andrew is able to play across all three formats of the game and has been especially valuable to our white-ball efforts. His batting is becoming a real asset to the team alongside his accuracy with the ball and we are looking forward to seeing him continue to develop.

“We remain committed to developing Welsh players and we are delighted that one of our pathway players will be representing us for the foreseeable future.”
