Glamorgan’s opening Vitality Blast match against the Worcestershire Rapids at Sophia Gardens was abandoned without a ball being bowled.(writes Andrew Hignell)

Steady rain fell over the Welsh capital from mid-morning and with the precipitation easing around 3.30pm plus the protective sheets strewn across the square with the hovercover protecting the pitch, the umpires – Jeff Evans and Jeremy Lloyds – made an initial inspection at 3.45pm at which they decided to make a further assessment of conditions at 5pm. They looked again at 6.30pm but conditions had not improved and the contest was abandoned.
