It's disappointing to lose in that manner - Maynard

Glamorgan suffered a 66-run defeat at home to Somerset on Wednesday night in the Vitality Blast, with Head Coach Matt Maynard admitting he was 'disappointed to lose in that manner'.

Babar Azam was dropped early on his innings off a difficult one-handed effort, and he made Glamorgan pay throughout his innings, with Maynard identifying that as the key reason behind the defeat.

"Catches win matches. We dropped Babar, and they caught Lloyd. Both one-handed catches, and both in a way game-changing.

"You can't drop the world's best T20 opener twice, and that gave us 20 more to chase."

David Lloyd and Nick Selman provided a platform in the victory over the the Northamptonshire Steelbacks but were unable to do the same, with subsitute fielder George Barlett, on for Babar Azam, taking a wonder catch to dismiss Lloyd, and Maynard believes that taking those chances was the difference between the two sides.

"You need a good start, you need a partnership. We had that Sunday in the last game, and we needed the same kind of start. We didn't get it, thanks to a good catch.

"It was the biggest total we've chased all year and we weren't used to it. It's disappointing to lose in that manner, but it wasn't over at the halfway point."
