We've got to back ourselves to get back in this game - Lloyd

Worcestershire head into day three with a 165 run lead over Glamorgan after they bowled the away side out for 193 before reaching 153/2 in their second innings.

The Welsh county were under the pump throughout their innings with David Lloyd top-scoring with a gritty 35 until Glamorgan managed to score 56 runs for their last two wickets to cut the deficit to just 12. Worcestershire regained control however in the evening session through Hamish Rutherford (52) and Darryl Mitchell (52*).

“That didn’t go our way," said Lloyd. "We got as close to it as we could."

"I thought we did well to keep them to 200 yesterday, but the batting front didn't go our way. Obviously we can bat better as a unit and there were some kind of half-hearted shots which was disappointing.

“But they bowled extremely well in the first session today. They bowled a lot straighter and made it difficult for us to score freely.

"We came out searching (to take wickets) in the second innings. They used the heavy roller and the wicket does seem to be a bit flatter than it was this morning.

“For me, it was nice to occupy the crease and I felt good but disappointing to get out the way I did after doing all the hard work and getting through the tricky spell.”
